Appointments with Glory

Lent is an icon of commitment. One of the things it requires us to be strong in is that we are a bridge to God. There are always people around us who do not care about God or who are limping in their commitment to Him. I am talking today about those who are our kinsfolk, children, relatives and friends… Lent says that God wants you to call them to Him. Notice the Sunday Gospels during Lent. They all bring to mind the Truth of this call. On the first Sunday, we see Philip, the one who is called, calling his friend Nathanael to Jesus (John 1: 45). On the second, four men carry a paralytic to the Lord (Mark 2:3). On the third, Jesus calls us to give forth the Word without shame (Mark 8:38). On the fourth, He asks that a child whom His disciples could not heal be brought to Him (Mark 9:19). And on the fifth, that is, the last Sunday before Palm Sunday, He announces that there are people whom He wants to be with Him in His glory (Mark 10:40). Lent is also for the purpose of magnifying our testimony to God in a world that has its appointments with glory.
