The brethren in our parish built a new church which Metropolitan George Khodr named "The Resurrection" (Al-Kiama). I took on the idea of this construction at the onset of my ministry in the parish in April 1988. Those who moved us to execute the idea were seven brethren who were called the "Committee for Building Al-Kiama Church". Building a church, if you ask me, is a great undertaking that I would not wish upon any new priest unless God blesses those who are involved in it with unity in the truth, which requires that building people should be the foundation of any building. Am I saying that the members of Al-Kiama Church Committee have never disagreed during the course of their work? Indeed, they did disagree many times. Yet, none of them ever raised his voice in anger at another or left a convened meeting never to return. When your face is turned to God every Sunday and feast day, even every day, God grants you the ability to see those with you as brethren and friends for the sake of a better service. I learned, within this committee, that service is only fitting for the one who knows he is an unworthy servant.
