A Word to Christians

I am singling you out with these quick lines. It is not my concern to set you apart from our other peers whom I love as much as I love you, but rather to remind you of your heritage without which we have no salvation. I do not think there is a heritage in the entire universe that wanted people to be one, and even to be servants to unity on earth, like the “New Testament”. The scene, that overshadows Lebanon, indicates that we need to believe in God’s words. I have a doubt, which is almost killing me, that you are able to give precedence to the Word of God over the words of this world which cannot understand unity. Whoever saw some of you, a few days ago, on one of the media outlets, as if you were in a war zone, will not believe that you are from “One Body” or are capable of really being an instrument of unity in an expanse that is meant for it to kill itself, on a sectarian and racial basis… I am addressing you with regret. Do not say: “what have we to do with you, priest?”! Your problem is not only political, but ecclesial as well. Go back to your Gospel. Let go of the other words, let go of your flesh and blood. This whole East needs you!
