On Saturday, following the lapse of one year, eight months, and twenty-eight days since he traveled, my son surprised me by visiting us. He had planned the visit in detail with other people, with his mother, his sister and some of his friends, without my knowledge and the knowledge of his brother and some of our relatives in whose hearts he occupies a great spot. Why did he exclude us? Is it a thrust of doubled joy to those whom he considers the weakest?! Young people and their ideas! Although I live waiting for him and his family, I was overwhelmed by his surprise! One of my fears about further expatriation is for our countries to become unfamiliar to those who have left them. I know that, for my son, the homeland is exclusively his family and his friends! I have tried to reinforce in him the love of Lebanon. From the day he was born to this day, this muddy country has not helped me. I am still trying. I will keep trying. I pray that Lebanon regains that life in it is a collective effort. This is rejoicing in my son and a prayer for Lebanon.
