A New Spectacle

I am always struck by the Apostle’s word about himself and his peers that they “have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men” (1 Corinthians 4:9). Did I mention this to you before? Perhaps. In this verse, I am fascinated by the boldness of Paul in acknowledging the witnessing love that does not skimp on shedding one’s blood (Hebrews 12:4) for the sake of God and His kingdom. To stand in the midst of the world and say that you belong to God, that you come from Him in every way, that you follow His will, which is your guide to the hope of eternity, this is what has written the fate of a Church against which Hades shall not prevail. Paul and most of his peers were martyred. They have left us a legacy that God deserves to be loved more than anyone and anything else. God is more important than life and than the present and the future..., more important than everything that the whole world considers important! I encourage you to do nothing but love God without regret... Will God grant us to be seen as a new spectacle both to heaven and to earth?
