I went up to the roof of the building I live in. The day was almost far spent. My intention was not to watch the setting sun, which I love, in its rising and its setting, but rather to check the water in our tank. This is our state in the land of water; we try, as much as we can, to avoid shortages of it! I am writing to you about what you all know, residents and expatriates. My friend Rima Ghassan Naufal, who visited us this summer from abroad, gave me pleasure by telling me that what she had said to her two children about our extreme poverty in electricity and water…, did not affect their insistence on visiting their homeland! Pure love is communion in all circumstances! Yes! I saw the tank. The water was less than a quarter of it. I raised my eyes to the sky. It seemed to me that the sun had planted one last kiss on a hill from here and a hill from there. This is a farewell to the good that is to come. The sun will shine again. When will Lebanon’s day shine?
