Oh God, I am writing to you about the great injustice in Lebanon. I am writing about the fear of disease, and even of the absence of medicines, which makes life as if it were an open tomb, and even of death by starvation and loneliness… In Lebanon, we do not know when bread will show up, for instance, and when it will disappear! You are in us and you know what is in us. We are actually living through a long night. Anything, pertaining to life, can disappear in an instant, anything. Who will save us from our deaths? Yesterday, a sick brother told me: “I earn ten million liras a month. I need a medicine, the price of one box of which, lasting for a month, is equivalent to what I earn in four months. Its price is not the only problem. The medicine is missing”. You have heard it all. The man told me that, in order to get his medicine from abroad, he had spent everything. Then he proceeded to speak like a prophet. He said: “nothing of essence is missing in a country before everything is lost”! Arise, O God, judge our earth. Greetings to my parents and friends who have gone into Your rest.
