A Great Word

When the great words reach us, they rest in us the way a Man rests in his house, and they emerge when they see that there is a good deed waiting for them! Today, I will leave you one of these words. Some forty years ago, I heard, along with some of our friends in our parish, a young man asking one of the venerable brethren: “what is the difference between the humble person and the weak one?”. He said one word to him. He said: “prophecy”. The young man repeated the word with bewilderment on behalf of himself and of those who have heard it! He answered him: “yes, prophecy. The humble person is a prophet, he talks if he thinks he should talk, and he remains silent if he should remain silent, he agrees, objects, insists, supports, and ignores if he should ignore. As for the weak person, he always agrees to everything”. The great words, alone, deserve to prevail over the succession of years!
