A Door for Work

They were companions of the same age, gathered in the Church hall. They were all around ten years old. I approached them, greeted them and asked them: “what do you want to do when you grow up?”. They gave me various answers. One of them confidently said: "I want to become a writer"! Her answer surprised me. Did she mean to say what she knew would make me happy? I asked her: “what do you want to write about?”. She seemed as if she was prepared for my question. Confidently also, she said: “about joy and sorrow; about those who bully their brethren and friends, who bully others at home and out of it”! I thought she was asking for my help with something I do not know. I asked her nothing. I kept what I have until after the meeting. However, I saved her from the stunned and prying eyes of her companions by saying: “you made me happy. Consider me, from today, as one of your readers”. Talking to children always opens for you doors for work!
