One of our deep wounds is that we are far, a little here and a lot there, from the aspirations of the Word. In most of what is required by our regeneration, you see us seeking anything but the Word. Who taught us to separate heaven from earth? Who told us that heaven does not descend? A friend of mine, before he assumed a leading position in his Church, used to criticize those who overemphasize the study of the Word! Today, he discovered that he was mistaken. He realized that a life of piety is not truly realistic without accepting the Word as the basis of everything. I am not looking at life negatively, but rather at the highest source of its regeneration, both ecclesiastically and personally. No matter how we are, do not give priority to anything over the Word, for the renewal of life. Today as well as tomorrow, this life needs those who carry the Word with all understanding and obedience, to be its home, its face, and its mouth.
