A friend of mine gifted me with a commentary on Jesus\u2019 words \u201cyou will have treasure in heaven\u201d which culminated a conversation that took place between Him and a rich man who came to ask Him about eternal life (Luke 18:18-27). In the past, whenever I read the Word, my mind would go to the final reward, to life with God. The conversation ends with Jesus\u2019 call to leave everything to be with Him. This is rewarded by His giving us, in return, everything, namely Himself, that is, His life. I revealed my thoughts. My friend did not disagree with me. However, he told me something else that Jesus explained in His words. He literally said to me: \u201cThe treasure is the poor people\u201d! I was shocked by what he said. I knew Jesus\u2019 words in Luke also: \u201cmake friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home\u201d (16:9). Yet, I did not put the two words together. Friends on earth are granted by God, before everyone else, to recognize the friends in heaven!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
