I saw her eyes looking at her \u201cneighbor\u201d who was getting off the school bus. I did not hear her asking: \u201cWhy do I not go to school like the other kids?\u201d! The children of the \u201ccaretakers of buildings\u201d (that is, the janitors, as they are called in our country) are not allowed to ask these questions publicly. This is the Lebanon of knowledge most of whose young people are now abroad, in an alienation whose pains are no different from the pain of our people who perceive themselves as foreigners amongst us. This is not oppression of the poor. In Lebanon, all of us have become poor. In the Arab world, in the place of the human communion inside of us, it was implanted that the other is another, is distant, is a neighbor who covets us. If you want some analysis from outside of the world of politics, in Lebanon, and elsewhere, we have reaped the outcome of this as a war, the effects of which continue to this day!
