When she went to a seat on which she was accustomed to sit, near the pulpit, she found a man, dressed in a normal attire, who had preceded her to it. She told him frankly: “You are sitting in my place”. The man got up and chose another place for himself in the back. After the service was over, one of the woman’s friends approached her, asking: "Do you know who the man is that you asked to leave the seat that you are occupying?". She answered: “No”. She told her: “He is Oscar, the King of Sweden”! I did not tell this story to hurt (our feelings), but rather for our benefit. Everywhere in our churches, we have many people who resemble this woman. There are people who find it easy to believe that what is public, if they get used to it, becomes their own! However, we do not have many people like this King who would give up what could be theirs for the sake of others. There remains for us to learn from the meekness of kings!

I read the story of a woman, in the Netherlands, who came to church on a Sunday.
