Before being their very topics, stories are, for those who were, like me, comforted by them, a person who loves you. The benefits of the story always follow what I am telling you. This gives me the opportunity to speak a little about the story (parable) of the Publican and the Pharisee (Luke 18:10-14), which the Church had read to us today at the beginning of this period in which she calls us to prepare for Lent. You know the story. The story is, forever, the shock of history. However, we do not understand anything of the mind of Jesus, unless we acknowledge that His goal, in all His stories, was not to keep the world in shock, but to benefit us with His love. He did not spread out to His listeners a blanket to keep them from the coldness of being alien to the Truth, but rather His own heart. The story is a revelation that Jesus, Who knows Man, wants us all to repent to His breast.
